Foiling services provide many advantages, which is why people like using them. There are the regular benefits like superior appearances, but there are others that have appeared more recently too. This includes them being an environmentally friendly option if you use recyclable foils.
KURZ’s progress with sustainable foils
One of our partners, KURZ, has made great progress in the field of sustainable foiling. Glossy packaging, magazines, and other items pose a question for producers that commit to sustainability. They wonder if their products can still be finished with a clear conscious. The answer KURZ will give is “yes”.
The vital thing to keep in mind here is the transfer foil does not leave any plastic (PET) on the object. It also does not use any laminate. In terms of what is applied to an item, it is only the decorative foil. KURZ decorations consist of a 0.02 μm thin aluminium layer. Furthermore, there is a minimal quality of coating (~2.4 g/m²). As such, they are 6,000 times thinner than a human hair.
Why use them?
If you are wondering why you should use KURZ products, there is the efficient use of raw substances. Besides this, they use harmless materials. The transfer decorations fulfil all German, European, and global environmental regulations.
Another fact is that KURZ foils are compostable, deinkable, and recyclable. The automated sorting procedure and composting operation aren’t affected.
They supply the maximum design variety too. The foil comes with the greatest details and maximum gloss for a decorating quality that is unbeatable. Please speak to us if you would like to get your hands on some recyclable foils.
Cardboard and paper items with KURZ transfer decorations are recyclable. You can do it without extra work or any restrictions as well, no matter the type. Cold transfer and hot stamping decorations separate entirely from the cellulose fibres here.
Compostability and biodegradability
KURZ also provides these two huge benefits with recyclable foil. The LUXOR® MTS 220 for instance has certification under DIN EN 13432 as a harmless additive for composting. The minimal decorative layer, which is ≤ 1% weight, has zero influence here. Not to mention, it does not affect plant growth.
Transfer coatings from KURZ only contain safe raw substances too. As a result, there are no halogenated hydrocarbons, hexavalent chromium, mercury, lead, or cadmium. Due to this, they meet the specifications of the current EU Chemicals Ordinance REACH. When processing KURZ foils, you don’t need to take into account any special restrictions or requirements.
